Following the arrests of suspected Sinaloa Cartel leaders Ismael Zambada Garcia (El Mayo) and Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the Justice Department released the following statement from Attorney General Merrick B. Garland:
“The Sinaloa Cartel, one of the most potent and violent drug trafficking groups in the world, has two more alleged leaders in custody, according to the Justice Department.” Joaquin Guzman Lopez, the son of the other founders of the Cartel, and Ismael Zambada Garcia, also known as “El Mayo,” were taken into custody in El Paso, Texas, today.
Leading the Cartel’s illegal activities, like as its lethal fentanyl production and trafficking networks, has resulted in several accusations against both men in the US.
The Justice Department is holding El Mayo and Guzman Lopez responsible in the United States, adding them to an increasing list of Sinaloa Cartel affiliates and commanders. Among them are Néstor Isidro Pérez Salas, also known as “El Nini,” who is said to be the Cartel’s top sicario, Joaquin Guzman Loera, also known as “El Chapo,” Ovidio Guzman Lopez, one of El Chapo’s sons and an accused commander of the group, and Joaquin Guzman Loera.
The worst drug danger our nation has ever faced is fentanyl, and the Justice Department won’t stop until every single cartel leader, member, and associate that poisoned our neighbourhoods is brought to justice.
